Timeline

When do elections happen?

There's always an election scheduled; but it can be brought forward in time (but no more than 30 days from present time).

The Timeline

  1. To be eligible for an election, a member needs to be current on dues.
  2. If an election is scheduled and it's within 30 days, the member will need to RSVP (declare their intent to participate or not) and pay a minimum election fee (currently 2 EOS). If the member will not be current on dues when the election is scheduled to take place, they will also be asked to pay their membership renewal dues (10 EOS).
  3. If a member opts out of participating in the next election, they can opt back in. (Schedule conflict.) No election fees are refunded. But none are collected twice either.
  4. T-24 hours: Election registration closes. The list of participants is finalized by the system.
  5. T-<1 hour: Groups are finalized.
  6. Election happens.

The Election

  1. You're provided with a view of the election schedule (when is the first round?) and a list of the people you need to join up with on a video call, eg. Jitsi, Zoom, etc. (We're going to try to provide links to Zoom or Jitsi rooms in the UI too.)
    1. Links to notion pages
    2. How to video links
  2. You join at the right time. Discussion ensues.
  3. A decision is made on representation (or not).
  4. Go back to the portal and log your vote (within the required timeframe).
  5. Upload video. Any voter can upload a video. They'll all be viewable. Eventually, others can adopt videos others in the group uploaded as their own if they'd like.
